Keith D. Klatt, MD was a co-founder of Columbia Research Group and has remained active in medical research at CRG since 2010. Dr. Klatt has been involved with basic research starting when he worked in the Chemical Oceanography Department of Texas A&M University while he was in High School. He continued with his oceanography work through college and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering from Texas A&M University (1980) with a minor in Chemistry. His professional career as an Engineer began with a joint appointment in the departments of Behavioral Medicine (involving Biofeedback, insomnia, migraine, and hypertension), Pharmacology (cardiovascular devices) and the Dental school (TMJ dysfunction) of the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, Texas. Three years later he matriculated into the medical school program, continued working as an engineering consultant, and finished his medical degree in 1987. He received further medical training in programs at Emanuel Hospital in Portland Oregon and the George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. He has been a principal investigator for numerous medical research studies (100+) since 1995.
In addition to his research responsibilities, Dr. Klatt continues to practice in local Emergency rooms plus he owns and operates Urgent Care NW in Astoria, OR employing 15 employees. He is an active father of two teenage children, married for 18 years and in his spare time enjoys cycling, gardening, skiing and hiking.
